A Primer on the
Agricultural Usage
of Lactic Acid Serum Primary Culture
|
 |
LactoBac LAS-1 is a concentrated liquid
form of Lactic Acid Serum (LAS). It contains Lactobacillus,
which is an indigenous microorganism used in food processing, production
of beneficial drugs and medicine, and in agricultural production.
This organism is soil-borne, free-living, and of the beneficial
type. The serum is cultured using natural fermentation process and
is not genetically engineered to enhance its beneficial effects. |
What are the
Benefits of Using LactoBac LAS-1?
The advantages of using LactoBac LAS-1 are as follows:
A. In Livestock and Poultry Raising
1. faster growth rate and uniform growth rate
2. prevents disease development and epidemic
3. decreases mortality rate and animal stress
4. improves quality of produce
5. easily converts animal waste into organic
fertilizers
6. eliminates foul odors from pens and ponds
B. In Crop Production
1. promotes germination, flowering, fruiting,
and ripening in plants
2. improves soil quality and eliminates
soil-borne pathogens
3. enhances the photosynthetic capacity of
crops
4. increases the efficacy of organic matter as
fertilizers
C. In Organic Waste Management
1. increases decomposition rate or organic
wastes
2. eliminates foul odor of organic origin
What are the Effects and Mode of Action of LactoBac LAS-1?
Although acid producing in nature, LAS aids in establishing a good and
efficient gastrointestinal tract and further enhances the digestive,
nutrient absorption, and assimilation abilities of animals. This
in turn makes the nutrients in feeds more readily available to poultry
and livestock. Adding LAS to drinking water improves its quality
by means of hindering potentially detrimental contaminants and
pathogenic microbes from entering the system. The combination of
both helps in improving the quantity and quality of produce by providing
the animals with maximum defense against harmful bacteria.
LAS has the ability to absorb ammonia present in animal manure and
converts it into organic acid thereby eliminating foul odor.
Adding LAS to composts increases the decomposition of organic wastes
therefore reducing composting time.
LAS watered into the soil or sprayed directly on crops (fruit trees,
vegetables, ornamentals, and others) enhances plant growth and makes
them healthier. This beneficial bacteria aids in the decomposition
process in the soil thus allowing more nutrients to be available and
assimilated by the plant. It aids in improving the physical,
chemical, and biological environments in the soil and helps in
eliminating soil-borne disease organisms and pests.
LAS is reproductively more active compared to other groups of organisms
thus population density of this organism is relative to the magnitude of
the degrading organic matter.
Effective Microorganism (EM) technology was brought into the
Philippines in 1994 by Hiroshi Ono from Japan. EM, which consists
of mixed cultures of soil-borne, free-living, and beneficial
microorganisms was developed in the 1980s by Dr. Teruo Higa from the
University of Ryukyus based in Okinawa, Japan. EM was initially
developed fro crop production by Mokichi Okida on the Living Soil.
It was found out later that EM has lots of beneficial effects on the
environment. Damage done tot he environment is reversed using this
revolutionary but natural technology.
How is LactoBac LAS-1 Used?
1. LactoBac LAS-1 Mist/Spray Solution:
For eliminating foul odor in poultry and pig
pens, spray LactoBac LAS-1 onto floorings and walls at 1:100 every 3
days.
For use on crops, spray LactoBac LAS-1 onto
plants and soil at 1:100 every 3 days for the first 2 weeks, and at
1:200 every 3 days from then on.
For use in composting organic wastes, spray
evenly at 1:100 until fully saturated.
2. LactoBac LAS-1 Activated Solution:
For use as drinking water for animals, add at
1:100 dilution for the first 7-14 days, and at 1:200 dilution from then
on.
3. LactoBac LAS-1 Feed Additive for Poultry and Livestock
Add LactoBac LAS-1 Activated Feed onto feeds
daily at 3% for the first 7 days and 1-3% from then on.
Using this technology reduces the agriculture production cost by
significantly reducing mortality and cutting the use of expensive
disinfectants and medications while improving the quantity and quality
of production thereby increasing profitability.
